Diesel
Diesel fuel or diesel is a colorless to yellow-brown fuel oil that is used in diesel engines. Chemically, diesel fuels are hydrocarbon mixtures. They are made by distilling crude oil to collect petroleum-derived liquid fuel for ignition in internal combustion engines called diesel engines. Compared to gasoline, diesel fuel has a higher carbon and lower hydrogen content. It has a higher flash point, so it does not produce explosive air-fuel mixtures in the cylinder of the engine like gasoline does.
Composition:
- Diesel is a refined petroleum product composed mainly of hydrocarbon chains 11-20 carbon atoms long.
- It has a higher flash point than gasoline due to a higher carbon and lower hydrogen content.
Grades:
- Automotive diesel commonly has a sulfur content of 10-15 ppm and a cetane number of 45-55.
- Higher-grade white/red diesel is ultralow sulfur (1-10 ppm) with cetane 60-70, for machinery use.
Specifications:
- Must meet Afghan standards or ASTM D975 for automotive/non-road use in compression engines.
- Other specs include cetane index, density, distillation temperature, and viscosity.
Uses:
- Diesel powers heavy vehicles, machinery, generators, and engines that don’t require an external spark plug to ignite the air-fuel mixture.
- More energy dense than gasoline so it sees increasing use in passenger vehicles.
Packaging:
- We transport diesel via tankers to fuel stations, construction sites, utilities, and industrial customers across Afghanistan.
- Provide bulk delivery by road tankers in metered quantities from 10,000-30,000L.
Benefits of our diesel include high energy density, combustion efficiency, ignition reliability, and low fueling costs. Contact us to discuss your business or machinery fuel needs.
